Design crit at Deakin University

This week on Monday, Jimmy went out to Deakin University in Geelong waterfront campus to crit on some first year architecture student's works. The project is about exploring space and form through a temporary dwelling for three different people. The image shows the excavation of a limestone block and the massing parts of the project. This was the students 5th week into their 5 year course. A long way to go...

Jens Risom film by Design Within Reach

It's "Something cool for Friday arvo" again. Jens Risom is a Danish American furniture designer, at 94 years old, his works are exemplar of mid-century modern design. His most iconic chair is the the Risom Lounge Chair, which is still in production by Knoll Studio. Desgin Within Reach has caught up with him last week, and filmed this short documentary of the wit and wisdom of the modern master, as he speaks about history, parachute straps, and, of course, chairs!

Pulse slowly revealed

Our Pulse Apartments project finally gets to see a glimpse of light this week, when some of the scaffolds have been taken down from Building A on Inkerman Street in St. Kilda. It has been a long time coming, considering we started on this job in 2007! The builder Merkon still have a lot to go, but we are already getting excited. The project is expected to be finished in late July, for more detail check out our project page here.
