Design crit at Deakin University

This week on Monday, Jimmy went out to Deakin University in Geelong waterfront campus to crit on some first year architecture student's works. The project is about exploring space and form through a temporary dwelling for three different people. The image shows the excavation of a limestone block and the massing parts of the project. EAT X Merryn Trevethan on Monument magazine

We were invited by Monument magazine to team up with artist Merryn Trevethan to create a "water feature" in the Create-a-Date section, and we can report that it really wasn't an easy task! You can find out the result in the latest issue of the mag (Issue 108 Apr/May 2012), we call it "Distilling Memories" smile Anyway Merryn is great, what a colourful personel (literally), and we love her works! and thanks to the new editor of Monument Susan Muldowney for inviting us along for this fun but mind exhausting excercise!

Happy Chinese New Year

This Sunday is Chinese New Year's Eve, we wish everyone a happy Chinese New Year, and a prosperous Year of the Dragon!

Jimmy’s trip to Chandigarh, India

Our staffer Jimmy Taylor just came back from a trip to India, and of course he has stopped by Le Corbusier's Capitol for Chandigarh, one of the architectural mecca for architects smile The urban and architectural work of Le Corbusier in Chandigarh is under the tentative consideration of UNESCO World Heritage list, and the photo above is the Legislative Assembly Building which is one of the four ‘Edifices' on the Site.

Australia Day celebration at the Government House

We were invited to the Government House to celebrate the Australia Day last evening, together with the 'bright young things' of Victoria. It was good to see a few familiar architect faces among the crowd - Jon Clements, Matt Gibson, Andrew Simpson, Emilio Fuscaldo & Imogen Pullar, David & Jacqueline Wagner, James Staughton, Stuart Harrison & Marcus White, as well as Rowen Opat.
